"We are trying to integrate the project into the local ecosystem in a sustainable way. The Royal Commission for Al-Ula (RCU), a public body under the Crown, has been given a $35 billion budget to transform the site into a luxury tourist destination. Opening up the country to tourism and developing a leisure industry is a priority for the 37-year-old prince. This reform program aims to break the kingdom's dependence on oil and loosen the grip of the ultra-regulatory Wahhabi clergy on society. The fate of Al-Ula changed when Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made it a flagship project of his "Vision 2030" plan. A fatwa forbade believers from visiting the city, which was cursed by the Prophet Mohammed. Few people in the kingdom, still closed to foreign visitors, walked the sandstone formations of Madain Saleh and the city of Hegra, listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 2008. The majority of its 50,000 residents made their living by growing dates, lemons and oranges, and by raising camels and sheep. For a long time, their city remained the sleepy capital of an agricultural province the size of Belgium, offering few prospects. When we offer it this command it sees that we have used wildcards and so, before running the command ( in this case ls ) it replaces the pattern with every file or directory (ie path) that matches that pattern. I suspect other versions of grep support this flag as well, but it's not in POSIX, so it's not portable necessarily. (note that you don't need cat since grep knows how to read files) The -o flag says to show only the parts of the line that match the pattern. It is actually bash (The program that provides the command line interface) that does the translation for us. With GNU grep you could do the following: grep -o 'This.day' theabovetext. Thompson spent about an hour that evening making his tool a general utility that could be used by others and renamed it as grep. He needed a tool that could search for phrases and strings within text files. McMahon was trying to identify the authors of the Federalist papers through textual analysis. His department head at Bell Labs, Doug Mcilroy, approached Thompson and described the problem one of his colleagues, Lee McMahon, was facing. Note:this is similar to (but not the same as) pattern matching we saw with grep. Ken Thompson had extracted the regular expression search capabilities from the ed editor ( pronounced ee-dee) and created a little program - for his own use - to search through text files. The Linux grep command is a string and pattern matching utility that displays matching lines from multiple files. ![]() With fish feeling like a random this may or may not fit as a whole fish and filleting makes it near useless as you can never stack multiple. In general I really like the ideas behind both the fishing and cooking system updates but feel they need some tweaks to become more practical and less "just chuck everything on a full house pizza", which is how it often feels like currently. Which ends up making me wonder why bother going out to get them in the first place. Fillets you are limited to only using 1, which means if you are making decent meals fish ends up only being a tiny percentage of ingredients. With fish though, their volumes are so obscure that you can literally fit a metric ton of shark (at low quality) on a pizza, but you can't fit a single high quality catfish, or shark or several other fish. Plus I can stick all of the horse meat on a pizza. If I butcher a horse and end up with 5-10KG of meat, that is fairly low effort to do but to get that much weight of fish is quite a bit more effort. Would it also be worth tweaking how fish are used in cooking recipes a bit? In the meantime, feel free to check out Wurm on Steam, we'll see you there! Hazel lets me also do it completely automatically. I personally like to share screenshots inside device frames, and Federico Viticci’s Apple Frames shortcut is great for doing this quickly and easily. Sticking on the Shortcuts train, I also have a Hazel automation set up to automatically frame my iPhone and Apple Watch screenshots that I add to my Mac. I’ve personally just started using it regularly, and wanted to share some of the things that make it an essential part of my Mac workflows. Released in 2006, this Mac automation tool is still consistently updated and is insanely useful. Hazel is one of those all-time great apps, though. With all this talk about SC meaning, and much of it relating to Antioch AE coinage, I'll toss these two coins out there. Are all SC's the same? Those destroyed coins will live on as historical documents even though they no longer exist as physical pieces of metal. Coins like this (or better most likely) were sacrificed by the scholars that determined the orichalcum used in them matched that used in Rome rather than in the East showing the coins were made in Rome and shipped East for use. I hate to see beginners spending hundreds of dollars on many things they will not learn from and passing them on to other beginners (often at a profit) who believe anything that old has some mystical value. When terribly corroded, they are like the ashes you get when you burn a book. I can not imagine why anyone would pay $5 for a coin with no details unless it were so rare that its existence was history. ![]() Coins with historical value need to retain enough design that they are identifiable with some certainty and show enough legends that you can read at least a bit of the history. |
